Availability of an Environmental Assessment; Opportunity for a Public Hearing

[26 Pa.B. 1308]

Interested parties are advised that the Department of Transportation, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, and in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, has an Environmental Assessment for the proposed US Route 11/15 Highway Improvements, known as SR 0011, Section 002 in Perry, Juniata and Snyder Counties.

A description of the proposed project is as follows: the Route 11/15 improvement project extends from Mt. Patrick approximately 9.5 miles north to McKees Half Falls in Perry, Juniata and Snyder Counties. The proposed action involves providing capacity and safety improvements. This will be accomplished by widening the existing three-lane facility to a combination of four and five lanes. The four-lane sections will be designed with separate turning lanes and median barrier to provide safe and steady flow of local traffic to and from business and residential areas. The five-lane portions will provide a center turning lane for direct access.

The Environmental Assessment is available for review at the following locations: Liverpool Post Office, Race Street, Liverpool, PA, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 1st National Bank, 104 North Front Street, Liverpool, PA, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Friday; Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, Veterans Memorial Office Building, 112 Market Street, 7th Floor, Harrisburg, PA, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Environmental Assessment and technical files are available for review and comment at the Department of Transportation, District 8-0 Office, 2140 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103-1699, (717) 787-7883, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Comments on the Environmental Assessment are due in writing on or before April 22, 1996, at the Department of Transportation, District 8-0 Office.

Any interested party may request that a public hearing be held to present testimony concerning the proposed highway improvements, including the social, economic and environmental impacts. A request to hold a public hearing must be delivered in writing to Barry G. Hoffman, P.E., District Engineer, Department of Transportation, District 8-0, 2140 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103-1699. Any public hearing request must be received on or before April 22, 1996.

In the event a request for a public hearing is received, notice of the time and place of the hearing will be published in this newspaper.
