Notice of Beginning of Review; Certificates of Need

   The Department has completed its preliminary assessment of the following applications for the offering, development, construction, renovation, expansion or establishment of reviewable clinically related health services or health care facilities. This notice is published in accordance with sections 702(c), 704(a) and 704(b) of the Health Care Facilities Act (35 P. S. §§ 448.702(c), 704(a) and 704(b)).

   CON-95-A-2532-B:  St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne-Newton Road, Langhorne, PA. The project involves construction of a three level outpatient facility and four replacement outpatient operating rooms, at an estimated cost of $16,706,921.

   CON-95-H-2590-B:  Medical Consultants Imaging Company, 1621 Euclid Avenue, Suite 1620, Cleveland, OH 44115. The project involves adding a second mobile MRI unit to provide service to Ohio Valley General Hospital and provide additional time to Metro Health Center in Erie, at an estimated cost of $813,150.

   CON-95-A-2554-B:  Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA. The project involves replacing existing pediatric intensive care unit, at an estimated cost of $6,332,670.

   CON-95-2553-B:  Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA. The project involves relocating and modernizing the existing inpatient medical oncology unit, at an estimated cost of $5,600,000.

   CON-95-A-2342-B:  Frankford Hospital, Knights and Red Lion Roads, Philadelphia, PA. The project involves converting 19 medical/surgical beds to a 19-bed hospital-based skilled care unit, at an estimated cost of $1,114,000.

   The projects are scheduled to be reviewed and a decision rendered by the Department of Health within 90 days beginning May 25, 1996. Interested persons, as defined in section 103 of the act (35 P. S. § 448.103) may request a public meeting. Requests must be made in writing within 15 days of this notice, to the Department of Health, Division of Need Review, Room 1027, Health and Welfare Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120. In order to preserve any appeal rights under section 506(a) of this act (35 P. S. § 448.506(a)) regarding the decisions made on these applications, any interested person as defined in the act must request a public meeting and participate in that meeting.

   If the Department of Health receives a timely request for public meeting, such meeting will be held in Room 812 of the Health and Welfare Building, Seventh and Forster Streets, Harrisburg, PA. The public meetings will be conducted on Monday, June 17, 1996. St. Mary Medical Center will begin at 9 a.m.; Medical Consultants Imaging Company will begin at 1 p.m.; Children's Hospital of Philadelphia CON-95-A-2554-B will begin at 2 p.m.; Children's Hospital of Philadelphia CON-95-A-2553-B will begin at 2:30 a.m.; and Frankford Hospital will begin at 3 p.m. Persons who need an accommodation due to a disability and want to attend a meeting should contact Jack W. Means, Jr., Director, Division of Need Review at (717) 787-5601 at least 24 hours in advance so arrangements can be made. These meetings are subject to cancellation without further notice.
