Request for Proposals

   Sealed Proposals will be received by Jeffrey L. Hess, Purchasing Manager, at the Administration Building, Harrisburg-East Interchange near Highspire, PA (Mailing Address: P. O. Box 67676, Harrisburg, PA 17106-7676) and publicly opened and read at the date and time indicated below for the following Contract:

   Contract No. 94-001-FT03. Construction of Mon/Fayette Expressway, S. R. 0043, Section 50D between Mp P. 5.7 and M. P. 9.3 in Fayette County, PA

   Bid Opening Date: August 13, 1997, 11 a.m.

   Bid Surety: 5%

   Plans, Cross Sections, Specifications and Contract Documents will be available and open to the public inspection at the Administration Building. Copies may be purchased upon payment of P. O. Money Order (no cash) to the Turnpike Commission, Attention: Secretary-Treasurer's Office, P. O. Box 67676, Harrisburg, PA 17106-7676. (DO NOT add state tax). NO REFUND for any reason will be made for plans, specifications and contract documents. Construction Plans including roadway, structures and subsurface profiles--$50; Cross Sections--$40; Specifications and Contract Bid Documents--$25; Total Package--$115.

   A Prequalification Certification and Maximum Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Committee of the Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project.

   Contact the Purchasing Manager for listing of other locations where plans and specs can be inspected.

   The Turnpike Commission in accordance with Title VI of the U. S. Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Parts 21 and 23 of 49 CFR notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that DBE will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and that no person will be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex or national origin in consideration for an award.

   A prebid meeting for the project under the direction of the Engineer, is scheduled for July 23, 1997, at 10 a.m., at the Uniontown Holiday Inn, 700 West Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401, (412) 437-2816.
