Asbestos Occupations Accreditation and Certification

Asbestos Abatement Contractor Licenses; Interim Standards and Procedures

   A license is required by all contractors whose primary business is asbestos abatement or who in the course of doing business can reasonably expect to perform asbestos abatement projects.

   Qualifications for Asbestos Abatement Contractor include:

   Asbestos abatement contractor licenses.

   The contractor shall clearly demonstrate all experience in the field of asbestos abatement.

   The contractor shall have access to at least 1 approved asbestos disposal site for deposit of all asbestos waste generated by that firm.

   The contractor shall clearly demonstrate the knowledge and ability to correctly and safely organize, manage and perform an asbestos abatement project.

   If applicable, the contractor shall submit a history of fines, citations or other actions by regulatory agencies.

   The contractor shall demonstrate the capability to perform asbestos abatement work, including but not limited to, necessary equipment, trained personnel, organizational structure, landfill availability, financial stability, experience or training, or both.

   Employment of a person certified as an asbestos contractor.

   Complete all required applications and forms specified by the Department of Labor, accompanied by the appropriate fee.
