Temporary Emergency Permit Modifications; Municipal Waste Processing and Disposal Facilities

   The Department of Environmental Protection has modified municipal waste processing and disposal facility permits on an emergency and temporary basis, as necessary, to manage the municipal waste backlogs and demolition waste generated by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, in order to prevent a public health or environmental emergency. These modifications are limited to the temporary extension of operating hours, operating days, and increases in maximum and average daily volume at the facilities and were made in response to written request by the permittee.
