Application of DeVry, Inc.

Notice of Opportunity for Hearing and
Invitation to Protest

   Under 24 Pa.C.S. § 6503(e) (relating to certification of institutions), the Department of Education (Department) will consider the application of DeVry, Inc. for approval to use the name DeVry University, Inc. and to obtain a Certificate of Authority to operate Keller Graduate School of Management and DeVry Institute of Technology as degree-granting institutions in the Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas. The Keller Graduate School of Management would offer Graduate Certificates in the areas of business and management. It would also offer programs culminating in the following degrees: Master of Accounting and Financial Management (MAFM), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM), Master of Information Systems Management (MISM), Master of Project Management (MPM) and Master of Telecommunications Management (MTM). The DeVry Institute of Technology would offer the following: programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Electronics Engineering Technology, Technical Management and Telecommunications Management leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree; and a program in Electronics and Computer Technology leading to the Associate of Applied Science in Electronics (AASE) degree.

   In accordance with 24 Pa.C.S. § 6503(e), the Department will act upon the application without hearing, unless within 30 days after the publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin a written request for public hearing is filed with the Department, along with a notice of intervention, a petition to intervene or protest in accordance with 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.23 and 35.24 (relating to protest) or 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.27--35.32 (relating to intervention).

   All petitions to intervene, protest and request for hearing shall be filed with Dr. Warren D. Evans, Chartering/Governance/Accreditation Specialist, (717) 787-7572, or Carol Gisselquist, Higher Education Specialist at (717) 787-4448, 333 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333 on or before 4 p.m. on the due date prescribed by this notice. Persons wishing to review the application should phone or write to the aforementioned office to schedule a time for an in-office review. Duplicate copies of the application are not available.

   Persons with a disability who wish to attend the hearing, if held, and require an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to participate, should contact Dr. Evans at (717) 787-7572 or Carol Gisselquist at (717) 787-4448 to discuss how the Department may best accommodate their needs.
