UPMC Health Plan; Rate Filing

   On March 14, 2002, UPMC Health Plan submitted filing number 1-CRHMO-02-UPMCHP for approval of the Insurance Department (Department). This filing requests approval to adjust base rates for the commercial community HMO, EAHMO, POS and EAPOS. The proposed medical increase for the Enhanced Access HMO is approximately 23%, 22% for the Enhanced Access Point-of-Service and 28% for the Point-of-Service. The proposed rate increase will be effective April 1, 2002, and will generate additional annual revenue of approximately $60 million.

   This filing is available for public inspection during normal working hours at the Department's regional offices in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.

   Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Cherri Sanders-Jones, Actuary, Insurance Department, Bureau of Accident and Health Insurance, 1311 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120 within 15 days after the publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
