Notice to Rescind Technical Guidance

DEP ID: 383-2129-001 Title: Enhanced Coagulation Calculator Spreadsheet--Version 1.1. Description: The Enhanced Coagulation Calculator Spreadsheet--Version 1.1 is an obsolete technical guidance document that is rescinded from the Department's technical guidance inventory. The guidance document was formerly used to provide instructions to assist water suppliers in understanding and implementing the ''Enhanced Coagulation'' requirements of the Stage 1 Disinfection Byproducts Rule. In lieu of using the enhanced coagulation calculator tool described in the guidance document, public water suppliers now have access to a Total Organic Carbon (TOC) calculation tool that enables users to retrieve specifically defined data from the Pennsylvania Drinking Water Information System. By using the TOC calculation tool, system users are provided with TOC performance data from treatment plants for any given 12-month period for which data is available. The tool can be accessed through the Drinking Water Reporting System on the Department's website at www.drinkingwater.state.pa.us/dwrs/HTM/DEP_frm.html (select the ''Sample'' function, enter a PWSID or select a county from the list; on the next screen, select PWSID(s) of interest, enter the desired 1-year time period and select the TOC report from the list of available reports). In addition to public water suppliers, other system users, including the public, university researchers and the regulated community can use the TOC calculation tool to retrieve user-defined data from the Pennsylvania Drinking Water Information System that can be downloaded for further analysis.

Contact: Questions regarding the rescission of technical guidance no. 383-2129-001 may be directed to Tim Lehman, Bureau of Water Standards and Facility Regulation at (717) 787-6744, or timlehman@state.pa.us. Effective Date: April 21, 2007.
