Apple Marketing Program Referendum

[37 Pa.B. 2100]
[Saturday, May 5, 2007]

Under 3 Pa.C.S. §§ 4501--4513 (relating to Agricultural Commodities Marketing Act), a review referendum was held from March 21, 2007, until 4 p.m. on April 4, 2007, to determine if the producers affected by the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program desired to continue the program for an additional 5 years. To pass, a majority of eligible producers voting had to vote in favor of the program's continuation. An impartial Teller Committee met on April 12, 2007, to count the ballots. The following results were submitted by the Teller Committee: Of the 142 votes counted, 83 were in favor of continuing the program. This number represented 58% of the votes. Those voting ''no'' were 59 representing 42% of votes. Because a majority of the votes were cast in favor of the program, the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program shall continue for 5 years, effective immediately.
