Catawissa Creek Watershed River Conservation Plan
[43 Pa.B. 5472]
[Saturday, September 14, 2013]
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has approved the Catawissa Creek Watershed River Conservation Plan (Plan) and is placing the Catawissa Creek Watershed and all tributaries covered in the Plan in Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council submitted the Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.
After review of the Plan and other information, the Department has determined that the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Program (Program) requirements have been satisfied and places the following on the Registry:
• The watershed area of Catawissa Creek (Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties) from the headwaters to its confluence with the North Branch of the Susquehanna River—153 square miles.
• All tributary streams within the Catawissa Creek Watershed.
This action becomes effective September 14, 2013. Projects identified in the Plan become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the Program.
A copy of the Final Plan is available for review at Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, 101 South Main Street, Ashley, PA 18706, www.epcamr.org/storage/watersheds/Catawissa_Creek_Watershed_Rivers_Conservation_Plan_120910.pdf and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market Street, 5th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101, (717) 783-2712.
