Medical Assistance Reliant Hospital Supplemental Payment

 The Department of Human Services (Department) is providing final notice of its continuation of supplemental payments to certain acute care general hospitals (hospitals) that provide a substantial portion of their inpatient services to Pennsylvania Medical Assistance (MA) beneficiaries. Hospitals with a patient population consisting largely of MA beneficiaries provide access to hospital services that otherwise may not be available to these individuals.

 The Department published notice of its intent to continue funding these supplemental payments at 44 Pa.B. 6169 (September 27, 2014). The Department received no public comments during the 30-day comment period, and will implement the changes as described in its notice of intent.

Fiscal Impact

 The Fiscal Year 2014-2015 impact as a result of the continued funding allocation for this payment is $0.300 million ($0.145 million in State general funds and $0.155 million in Federal funds upon approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
