Disproportionate Share and Supplemental Hospital Payments

 The Department of Human Services (Department) is providing final notice of its funding allocation for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-2022 inpatient disproportionate share hospital payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general, psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals and qualifying psychiatric and rehabilitation units of acute care general hospitals; outpatient supplemental payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general hospitals; and direct medical education payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general hospitals. The Department is not otherwise changing the qualifying criteria or payment methodology for these payments.

 The Department published notice of its intent to allocate funding for these payments at 51 Pa.B. 5762 (September 4, 2021). The Department received no public comments during the 30-day comment period and will implement the changes as described in its notice of intent.

Fiscal Impact

 The FY 2021-2022 impact, as a result of the funding allocation for these payments, is $255.556 million in total funds.
