DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Certification of the I/M Program for Designated Areas

   The Secretary of Transportation, in accordance with 75 Pa.C.S. § 4706(b.1)(2) (relating to prohibition on expenditures for emission inspection program), certifies the establishment and implementation of a vehicle emission inspection program (I/M program) in: (1) South Central Region--Berks, Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northampton and York Counties; and (2) Northern Region--Blair, Cambria, Centre, Erie Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming and Mercer Counties.

   The Secretary certifies that phasein of the I/M program will begin in these counties on December 1, 2003. Motorists in these counties with vehicles subject to the I/M program will receive notification in conjunction with the renewal of their vehicle registration.
