Deductible Amount for Medigap High Deductible Options for Calendar Year 2003

[33 Pa.B. 704]

The Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced that effective January 1, 2003, the annual deductible amount for the Medicare supplemental health insurance (Medigap) high deductible option is $1,650.

High deductible policy options are those with benefit packages classified as ''F'' or ''J'' that have a high deductible feature. The deductible amount represents the annual out-of-pocket expenses (excluding premiums) that a beneficiary who chooses one of these options must pay before the policy begins paying benefits.

For additional information regarding Medicare supplemental health insurance, including complete benefit packages for all Medicare supplemental health insurance policies, visit the Insurance Department website at www.insurance.pa.us or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services website at www.cms.hhs.gov/Medigap.
