Stream Redesignation Evaluation of Little Sewick- ley Creek; Water Quality Standards Review

 Under 25 Pa. Code § 93.4d (relating to processing of petitions, evaluations and assessments to change a designed use), the Department of Environmental Protection (Department) gives notice that an evaluation will be conducted on the following stream section to determine the proper aquatic life use designation in this Commonwealth's Water Quality Standards.

 Persons who have technical data concerning the water quality, instream habitat or biological condition of this stream section are encouraged to make it available to the Department for consideration in the assessment. This assessment may lead to a recommendation to the Environmental Quality Board (Board) for redesignation.

 Data should be submitted to Tony Shaw, Division of Water Quality Standards, Bureau of Point and Non-Point Source Management, Department of Environmental Protection, P. O. Box 8774, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8774, tshaw@pa.gov. Data should be submitted no later than April 8, 2013. Questions concerning this evaluation can be directed to Tony Shaw at (717) 787-9637.

 This assessment is being conducted in response to a rulemaking petition submitted to the Board by Duquesne University. On November 20, 2012, the Board accepted the rulemaking petition for study under 25 Pa. Code Chapter 23 (relating to Environmental Quality Board policy for processing petitions—statement of policy). The Little Sewickley Creek basin is currently designated High Quality—Trout Stocking, as identified in 25 Pa. Code § 93.9w (relating to Drainage List W). The petitioner is requesting the Little Sewickley Creek basin be redesignated to Exceptional Value.

 The petition is available to the public by contacting the Environmental Quality Board, P. O. Box 8477, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8477, (717) 787-4526 and is also accessible on the Department's web site at www.dep.state.pa.us (DEP Keywords: EQB (EQB Meeting Agendas/Handouts/Minutes; 2012; November 20, 2012)).
