Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority's Energy Development Plan; Available for Public Comment

[49 Pa.B. 6919]
[Saturday, November 16, 2019]

The Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA) was created under section 2803-C of the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority and Emergency Powers Act of 1982 (71 P.S. § 720.3) to provide financial and technical assistance to energy projects that will expand the market for the Commonwealth's clean and diverse energy portfolio while mitigating the impacts of climate change, improving public health and protecting the environment, and strengthening economic development.

Under section 2809-C (71 P.S. § 720.9), PEDA is chargedwith developing and implementing an Energy Development Plan (Plan), which serves as an articulation of PEDA's energy policy goals and plan for the allocation and distribution of financial and technical assistance to achieve PEDA's mission. The Plan is updated periodically in accordance with PEDA procedures.

The PEDA Board of Directors (PEDA Board) issued the first Plan for public comment on September 26, 1984. After reassessing its mission and objectives in 2008 and 2014, the PEDA Board issued an updated Plan. The 2019 Plan updates the mission and objectives as required by the PEDA statute and includes changes to remove outdated references and incorporate current data.

The Plan is available for review through the Department of Environmental Protection's (Department) eComment web site at www.ahs.dep.pa.gov/eComment.

The Department will consider all comments received on or before Friday, December 20, 2019. Comments submitted by facsimile will not be accepted. All comments, including comments submitted by e-mail, must include the commentator's name and address. Commentators are encouraged to submit comments using the Department's online eComment tool at www.ahs.dep.pa.gov/eComment or by e-mail to ecomment@pa.gov. Written comments can be submitted by mail to the Policy Office, Department of Environmental Protection, Rachel Carson State Office Building, P.O. Box 2063, Harrisburg, PA 17105-2063.

Questions regarding the Plan can be directed to David Althoff at dalthoff@pa.gov or (717) 783-0542.
