Supplemental Payments to Qualifying Hospitals

 The Department of Human Services (Department) is providing final public notice to establish a new class of supplemental payments beginning Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-2022 to qualifying acute care general hospitals located in a county with an estimated general population count of less than 1 million that serve a high percent of Medical Assistance (MA) patients. These payments will enable the continuation of quality medical services in these areas.

 The Department published notice of its intent to allocate funding for these payments at 52 Pa.B. 1192 (February 19, 2022). The Department received no comments during the 30-day comment period. The Department will implement the total payment set forth in the notice of intent.

Fiscal Impact

 For FY 2021-2022, the Department will allocate $4.828 million in total (State and Federal) funds for these supplemental payments.
