Disproportionate Share and Supplemental Hospital Payments

 The Department of Human Services (Department) is providing final notice of its funding allocation for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 inpatient disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general, psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals and qualifying psychiatric and rehabilitation units of acute care general hospitals, outpatient supplemental payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general hospitals, direct medical education payments to qualifying inpatient acute care general hospitals, and certain DSH and supplemental payments to new hospitals. The Department is not otherwise changing the qualifying criteria or payment methodology for these payments.

 The Department published notice of its intent to allocate funding for these payments at 52 Pa.B. 6111 (September 24, 2022). The Department received no public comments during the 30-day comment period and will implement the changes as described in its notice of intent.

Fiscal Impact

 The FY 2022-2023 impact, as a result of the funding allocation for these payments, is $257.760 million in total funds.
