ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY BOARD

Acceptance of Rulemaking Petition for Study

   At the December 15, 1998, meeting of the Environmental Quality Board (Board), the Board accepted two rulemaking petitions for further study under 25 Pa. Code, Chapter 23 (relating to Environmental Quality Board policy for processing petitions--statement of policy).

   The petitions request changes to stream designations. Both petitions were submitted by the Berks County Conservancy and District Township and request that Oysterville Creek and West Branch Perkiomen Creek be redesignated from Cold Water Fishes to Exceptional Value Waters.

   The Department of Environmental Protection (Department) is reviewing these petitions and will forward its report evaluating them to the Board. The Department's recommendation will be processed as a proposed rulemaking with an opportunity for public comment.
