DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES
Revisions to Schedule of Prices for State Parks
[41 Pa.B. 6777]
[Saturday, December 17, 2011]
A. Summary and Background
Under section 314 of the Conservation and Natural Resources Act (71 P. S. § 1340.314) and 17 Pa. Code § 11.224 (relating to prices), the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of State Parks, is revising its price schedule for State Park activities, uses and privileges. The new schedule, which is in Section D as follows, includes price increases for Commonwealth residents and non-Commonwealth residents for certain boating facilities, swimming pools, cottages, yurts, cabins and walled tents. In addition, a new price is being instituted for summer boat trailer storage during the boating season.
The new price schedule, which is comparable to those of state parks in neighboring states, is needed to increase revenue to the Bureau of State Parks. In addition to offsetting inflation, it narrows the gap between Pennsylvania State Parks and private facilities, resulting in a more favorable competitive climate for the private sector.
The new price schedule eliminates a maximum price per site for backpack/river camping to address the large size of the groups impacting the natural resource. It also eliminates park-specific rack and shoreline mooring prices for Moraine State Park. Moraine State Park mooring and rack prices will fall under the same price range as all other parks with mooring and rack spaces.
For comparison purposes, the current price schedule along with the new price schedule can be found at the Pennsylvania State Parks web site at http://www.dcnr. state.pa.us/stateparks/prices/index.htm (select the 2012-2013 Prices). It can also be obtained by calling Pennsylvania State Parks Reservations and Information at (888) PA-PARKS. When the new price schedule becomes effective, it will be posted on the State Parks web site.

C. Effective Date
The effective date of the new price schedule is January 1, 2012. Therefore, it will apply to boating and swimming pools in the 2012 season. For cabins, yurts, cottages and walled tents, it will apply to reservations made for the 2013 season.
